Terms of Service

1. The service and operator

PaperEnjoyer helps you organize papers, read PDFs, generate AI-assisted explanations, ask questions and synchronize a research library. These terms govern our website and online services. “We”, “us” and “our” refer to the service operator using the name PaperEnjoyer.

The university is a correspondence location, not the provider or sponsor of PaperEnjoyer. By creating an account or using our online services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use those services. The Privacy Policy explains data handling; the Refund Policy addresses purchases.

Any separately supplied software or open-source component remains subject to its applicable licence. These terms do not remove permissions granted by those licences.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into this agreement. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to bind it. Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Do not sell accounts, share credentials to evade limits or create accounts to abuse introductory offers. Keep copies of important research outside the service.

3. Your content and sharing

You retain the rights you hold in uploaded papers, notes and other content. Only upload or share material you are entitled to process in the ways the feature requires. Access to a paper does not necessarily include permission to redistribute it or send it to an AI service.

You give us a non-exclusive permission to store, copy, process and transmit your content to the extent needed to provide your requested features, secure the service and handle support. This includes processing by relevant service providers as described in the Privacy Policy. It is not a transfer of ownership.

Unedited, generated standard reading results may be submitted automatically for administrator quality review and, if approved, reused for the same paper by other accounts. This feature is distinct from your private annotations, edited notes and independent Agent conversations. See Standard readings and sharing before processing confidential or restricted material.

When you create a share link, you authorize access to the selected snapshot. Anyone who obtains the link may be able to view it, and recipients may save or import copies. Revoking the link cannot recall copies already obtained. You are responsible for the content and rights included in the snapshot.

We do not promise that AI output is unique, protectable by copyright or free of third-party rights. If you report an infringement, include the affected material, its location and a way to contact you; we may restrict access while reviewing the report.

4. AI and external services

AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate or fabricated, including citations, translations and equations. Verify results against the original paper. PaperEnjoyer provides research assistance, not professional medical, legal or financial advice.

Cloud parsing and AI tasks send relevant materials to the services involved, including when library synchronization is disabled. Server-based reading can continue after the app closes. Local Agent execution can still communicate with the model provider you selected.

Services you connect with your own account or API key have their own terms, prices and data practices. You are responsible for permission to use those services and their charges. Features and model availability depend on the selected provider and your access.

5. Subscriptions and credits

The Pricing page currently describes upcoming plans. Coming-soon plans, promotional credits and credit packs are not active entitlements of the current free app, and no purchase can be completed on this website yet.

When paid checkout becomes available through Paddle, Paddle will be the reseller and merchant of record for those transactions. Its Buyer Terms will govern the purchase from Paddle; these terms will govern your use of PaperEnjoyer. The checkout will identify the price, taxes, billing interval and applicable offer before you pay.

Monthly plans will renew until cancelled. Cancel through the Paddle receipt’s subscription-management link or Paddle support before the next renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Refund requests are separate and follow our Refund Policy and applicable rights.

Monthly allocations, rollover limits, expiry and promotion eligibility are described on the Pricing page. Monthly credits are spent before purchased credits. Purchased packs do not expire through a monthly reset or cancellation. The 300-Credit registration gift is promotional and expires after 30 days. Credits are service-use units, not cash, and cannot be transferred or redeemed for money except where a purchase refund or applicable law requires a remedy.

After a downgrade, data above the new storage limit is retained, but new uploads are restricted until usage is within the limit or you upgrade. We will disclose material price or entitlement changes before they apply, including any notice or consent required by law. They will not retrospectively remove rights already acquired.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to infringe rights, distribute unlawful material, access another person’s data without permission, spread malware, disrupt the service or bypass security, usage limits or payment controls. Do not upload sensitive or confidential material unless you have authority for the processing and disclosures involved.

We may apply proportionate limits to protect availability and investigate suspected abuse. Restrictions will not be used to remove rights granted under an applicable software licence.

7. Changes, suspension and termination

Maintenance, provider failures and security incidents can interrupt service. We cannot promise uninterrupted operation or any particular research outcome. We may change features or discontinue a service, with reasonable advance notice where practicable and with the remedies required for affected paid services.

We may restrict or suspend an account for material breach, fraud, a security threat or a legal requirement. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it; urgent risks or legal restrictions may require immediate action.

You may stop using the service and request account deletion by email. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete cloud data or cancel a subscription. We will explain deletion consequences, outstanding billing and any necessary retention when handling your request. See the Privacy Policy for retention and recipient copies.

8. Responsibility and protected rights

We are responsible for providing the service with the care required by applicable law. You are responsible for your lawful use of content and for checking AI-assisted work before relying on it.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, deliberate misconduct or other protected claims. Nothing removes mandatory consumer guarantees, data protection rights or remedies for a service that is defective or materially different from its description. No blanket waiver of those rights is required to use PaperEnjoyer.

9. Law, disputes and updates

The laws of the People’s Republic of China govern our service agreement, subject to the mandatory protections available in your place of residence. You retain any right to bring a claim in a court available to you under applicable law. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or an exclusive foreign court on consumers. Paddle’s transaction terms address disputes with Paddle separately.

Contact us first if you would like help resolving a concern; doing so is not a condition of exercising legal rights. We may update these terms as the service changes. We will date the updated version and provide additional notice or obtain agreement where required. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove existing purchase or statutory rights.
